センター長あいさつ
カトリック大阪大司教区は、新生計画（1995年開始）の基本理念である「谷間に置かれた人々の心を生きる教会」として、とりわけ弱い立場に置かれた人びとに寄り添い、誰もが人間として大切にされる社会の実現を目指して歩んできました。2003年に発足したシナピスはこの教区方針に基づき、カリタスジャパンや「日本カトリック正義と平和協議会」と連携し、人権を守る諸活動、障がい者のサポート、船員司牧、外国人移住者や難民の支援に尽力して参りました。
シナピスとは「からしだね」を意味します。決して多くのことはできませんが、祈りのうちに今わたしたちになしうることは何かを識別し判断しながら活動しています。
マザーテレサのことばにあります。「大切なことは、たくさんのことを成し遂げることでも、何もかもをすることでもありません。大切なことは、いつでも何に対してもよろこんでする気持ちがあるかどうかです。貧しい人々に奉仕しているとき、わたしたちは神に仕えているのだと確認していることなのです」
教区の皆さんと共に「平和の種」を蒔き続けることが出来るように努力してまいりたいと思います。

Greeting from Exective Director
The Catholic Archdiocese of Osaka has been striving to realize a society in which everyone is valued as a human being, especially those in vulnerable situations, as “a church that lives in the hearts of those in the valley,” which is the basic principle of the Renewal Plan (started in 1995). Based on this diocesan policy, Sinapis, in cooperation with Caritas Japan and the Japan Catholic Council for Justice and Peace, has been making efforts in various activities to protect human rights, support the disabled, pastoral care for seafarers, and support for foreign migrants and refugees.
The word “Sinapis” means “mustard seed. We can never do much, but we work in prayer, discerning what we can do now.
In the words of Mother Teresa, “What is important is that there is much to do. Mother Teresa said, “The important thing is not to accomplish a lot or to do everything. What is important is that you are always willing to do anything. When we serve the poor, we are confirming that we are serving God.
I would like to make every effort to continue sowing “seeds of peace” together with the parishioners.
